Mediation in our world

What is Mediation?

Mediation is the use of a facilitator (trained, unbiased, confidential) to help parties with conflict to talk and listen with a view to designing a solution which meets their needs. Mediation can be conducted in the court system, in community, workplace, police stations, schools, or any setting where the disputants choose to use a third party to help them settle their differences.

Why Mediation?

  1. For the purpose of reaching solutions;
  2. It reduces delays;
  3. It is cost effective and circumvents red tape and formality; and
  4. It allows for continued relationships.

TIPS ON RESOLVING DISPUTES:

  1. Talk about how you feel;
  2. Be honest about what affects you;
  3. Choose to talk instead of fight;
  4. Don’t be quick to blame others;
  5. Don’t be afraid to say what you don’t like;
  6. Always try to be respectful;
  7. Talk in a safe place;
  8. Remember some things are always private;
  9. Ask a mediator for help if you cannot agree; and
  10. A mediator will guide you on how to share ideas.

MAKE TALK WORK FOR YOU.  WE CAN WORK IT OUT.
